BEDCO was founded in June, 2013 by a unique group of Somali experts and educators and other intellectuals. Its establishment came a time when Somalia communities were under chaotic and anarchy situation and isolated environment matter, artisanal fisheries and neglected the community coastal settlements. As we have a good experience and capacity related ocean, (Red Sea the Gulf of Aden), fishery development activities and needs of protection to an environmental destruction. In finally we agreed as voluntary to establish Blue Economy Development Company to cover most of above mentioned marine and fishery challenges in Somalia.

This above mentioned company which abbreviated as (BEDCO) is local non-governmental, non-political but It is technical supporters, consultants to be easy to develop and engage improvement of the safe ocean, marine environment, energy issues, fish species and fisheries through promotion of its development and environmental damage protection. It also to include that the support to increase fish catchments production in Somalia, and finding better solution for coastal community with income generation programs.

BEDCO is unique educators group who aimed to release the potential of the Somali marine and coastal settled community and giving assistant to related responsible public/private and international agencies in Somalia. The expected is to change artisanal own lives through a sustainable, integrated community centered development strategy. The concept of a sustainable development has been our central theme in development strategies since the late 2018. BEDCO is geared towards the improvement of the living standards with concern for the long-term viability of various development programs, the health of the environment and community control over the problems that affects them.

Such believes have always drowned into the loss of multiple projects worth of millions of dollars. Some changes were found to be very necessary to prevent the nation. So that, in this aspect, it’s part of   BEDCO’s vision to eradicate such dangerous believes and guide the environmental protection, marine and fishery related agencies with community towards to a participatory people-centered development strategy.
